Biography

            

              Dr.C.D.Sahadevan (Chalasseril Damodaran Sahadevan) is an Ayurvedic scholar and physician from Kerala. He was born on 8^th November 1952 at Pulikkamaly, Mulamthuruthy. He was born to Sri.V.S.Damodaran and Smt.Karthyayani Amma both of them were ‘grand in aid’ visha vaidya’s of Kochi Palace. He was educated at Govt. Basic training school, Pulikkamaly and St.George high school, Arakkunnam. After matriculation he joined Govt.Ayurveda College, Thripunithura for his Diploma in Ayurveda. Dr.C.D.Sahadevan studied Ayurveda under various teachers including his parents. In the college he was trained by Dr.Prabhakaran, Sri.Kunjan vaidyan, Dr.P.V.Devasya, Sri.Balasankara bhattathirippadu and Dr.N.Govindan. After graduation he joined All India Institute of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Bombey and passed PGCR with good academic standard.

            He started his career as a physician in Kottakkal Arya Vaidyasala and continued there for 4 years. In 1977 he joined in Indian systems of medicine as pharmacist and was promoted as Medical Officer. He dedicated his life to serve high range people of Idukki district. At that time there were no medical facilities available. Dr.C.D.Sahadevan served the downtrodden labourers who worked in the tea plantations. He conducted special medical camps for the people they couldn’t approach the dispensary. During his service he could prevent communicable diseases like hepatitis, Dengue fever, Chikungunya etc by conducting awareness classes and giving preventive medicines to public. For this humanitarian act he was honoured by local self government department and Rotary club. In 2007 he retired from service as senior medical officer. Now he is practicing at Thodupuzha.

   
                  Dr.C.D.Sahadevan is an astute clinician and meticulous researcher in the field of Ayurvedic medicine. He becomes the foremost clinical expert on Oncology and Infertility management. He also proved his clinical skill to treat diseases of Rheumatology, Neurology, Nephrology, Endocrinology, Dermatology and Gastroenterology. He has a special interest in Paediatrics and infertility management.

            Dr.C.D.Sahadevan’s contributions to Ayurveda medicine research and practice have brought him many honours and awards. He bagged the Dhanwanthari Award of Govt. of Kerala for outstanding and comprehensive contributions to Ayurveda treatment and Research in 2009.He received the Excellency award of middle east nurses council,USA. Govt. of Bihar honoured Dr.C.D.Sahadevan for his contributions. He was honoured by different social and non governmental organizations including Divine retreat centre, muringoor, Ayurveda Medical Association of India, Ayurvedic medicine manufacturers organization of India and Rotary club of Munnar for appreciating his service.
